A sigh of relief! Taxes…Taxes…Taxes 2010!

If your viewing this on Facebook head on over to our blog at https://www.ztsblog.com

Running a photography business is a TON of work. Seriously, OH my! When Tanner and I jumped the gun and filed for our EIN number in 2009 truthfully had no idea what we were in for. It has sure been an enjoyable voyage and a remarkable learning experience in putting my BA in business to use!

Most people think that running a photography business is all about being stellar at merely snapping photos. Boy is that false! Never did we estimate that about 20% if not less of our jobs would be behind the camera and 80% of our jobs would be diving into taxes, sales tax, organizing business checking and savings accounts, mileage reports, keeping all our financial orders up to date in Quicken, and running the day to day necessary client communication functions of a business efficiently. To be a good photographer we learned you have to be organized. No you have to be marvelously beyond a doubt organized.

We just finished preparing for our tax appointment tonight with our wonderful tax professional in Indianola and couldn’t be happier to be all ready to go! Our accounting is up to date and everything is officially organized and categorized into folders and ready to go for 2010!

Thank you all for a wonderful year ! If any of you local Des Moines photographers starting out need some help on anything from links to register your business with the IRS or obtaining a Iowa Sales Tax permit to a good CPA feel free to shoot us an e-mail or a Facebook message. It is tough to figure out all the 80% and we would love to be a bit of help if we can!

Team Tremper Wedding | Pella Iowa Wedding

If your viewing this on Facebook head on over to our blog at https://www.ztsblog.com

We decided to make a “Best of 2010” album, re-do the images on our website and overall just finish blogging all our weddings from 2010 in entirety. Man it is a bit more work that originally thought!

Team Tremper aka  Kristin and Jason smiled the entire day, minus those long laughs and a few tears in-between. They were wonderful to work with and Kristin decorated the reception to a tea. She found on most of her decorations on Etsy and the wonderful flowers were provided by Shelly Sarver who you can reach at shellysarver@hotmail.com if your interested in her floral arrangements.

They wedding day itself was just beautiful. Hot but not too hot…ok I lied it was super hot at one point! Ha! But what an absolutely gorgeous sky. Their reception took place in the back yard of the home of the President of Central College where the light was superb for photos. She even went down the slide…YES! She did!

Just a warning…super long blog post to follow!
