4th of July | Clear Lake, IA

The 4th of July has been THE favorite holiday of mine for as long as I can remember. I love sparklers, smoke bombs, snakes, fireworks, m80’s, basically anything I can light on fire and looks pretty counts. Especially when pictures are involved! Growing up a short 45 min trip of all interstate from Des Moines, Iowa to the border of Missouri (where fireworks are legal) it is always a great time of year to run down and pick some fireworks.

For the first time in YEARS I didn’t have an SLR camera along side me for fireworks (trust me I am still not happy about it) but we did manage to have some fun with fireworks and long exposures this weekend!

Here are a few pics of Tanner and I late Saturday night outside in his backyard with packages of sparklers, the light-stand, soft-box with 580 ex II in it, tripods, a 14mm f/2.8 on self timer, a well placed tiki torch for quick lighting purposes, his mom and her best friend for the background excitement and far to much creativity for our own good. Enjoy!
